John Adams calls another cowboy to see where he is on the property during a controlled burn at the Adams Ranch in Southern Osceola County on Wednesday, 02/20/2013. Perspective Caption: FloridaÍs ranching story goes something like this: A rancher dies and leaves the land to descendants. They cannot afford the estate tax, so the ranch is sold off piece by piece to pay off the debt. Or family members may not want to continue the ranching tradition and sell. Or a developer simply comes along and offers the land owner a tidy sum to retire on. John Adams is a fourth generation rancher. He once dreamed of being a professional surfer, but like his sister who planned to do something else, Adams continues the family tradition. Now that I'm actually doing it, there's nothing else that I'd rather do, said Adams in between working a controlled burn at the ranch. You don't really fall into a routine. You never know what you're going to see on any given day. He added, It's really beautiful out here, I think, just being out here with Mother Nature, just really does something for me. (Zuppa Pick)

(02/18/2013 El Paso) Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, and El Paso, Texas form a single sea of lights as the sun sets over the adjacent border towns on February 17, 2013. Once the area felt like a single city, with both Americans and Mexicans crossing into each other's countries with relative ease. Then came the violence associated with the drug trade, waves of undocumented immigrants, and politicians promising to wage war on both. As debate on immigration swirls in Washington, many who actually live on the border feel that all of the enhanced security has hurt the interconnected nature of the towns and cities along the US/Mexico border.
